SKILLS
Graphic Design: Producing complex and highly formatted publications like magazines, newsletters and catalogs. Designing ads, posters, brochures and other media. Work with illustrators, photographers and other vendors as needed. Prepare final files for prepress. Attend press checks.
Pre-press: Print images on high-end printer for designer approval. Preflight and convert final publication files to pdf for printing. Fix problem documents when necessary. Output page color proofs to send to printer.
Digital Imaging: Color correction and retouching, making sure images are the correct color profile, creating silhouettes, drop shadows, special effects, "high fashion" retouching, and other major alterations. Operating high quality flatbed and desktop drum scanners.
Digital Photography: Product photography for different magazines and clients. Photograph images that are too large or too bulky to scan. Casual event and portrait photography.
Mac OS and software: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat (with Pitstop), Dreamweaver, Quark Xpress, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Troubleshooting and fixing minor OS related problems, using such utility software as Disc Warrior and Norton Utilities.
Web Design and Development: HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver.
Teaching/Instruction: Teaching graphic design and state-of-the-art graphics media at a college level. Preparing students to enter the workforce as an entry level designer.
